NA Speaker Asad Qaiser, Hafeez Sheikh discuss economic situation

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on Saturday held a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser where both discussed the overall economic situation of the country.

During the meeting, Asad Qaiser said that we have to create peasant friendly policies for the development of the farmer and agriculture sector of the country. “Priority should be given to solving common man’s problems in economic policies,” he added. “Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy”.

NA Speaker further said that only increase in agricultural production can improve the economy of the country. He asserted that historical decisions will have to be made for the improvement of important crops like cotton.

Speaker Asad Qaiser expressed that farmers will have to be provided facilities for the improvement of the economy and employment opportunities will be created through the promotion of industries. During the meeting, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh expressed that the government is taking steps to facilitate businesses and to solve the problems of industrialists. The current account deficit has been overcome, the government is taking drastic measures for improvement, he added.

Finance Advisor said that the government’s top priority at the moment is the restoration of the economy. “Pakistan wants a permanent solution to the economic crisis which will be resolved in the tenure of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he concluded.
