KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has excluded the name of former Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) managing director (MD) Zohair Siddiqui from the inquiry against alleged corruption in the purchase of land by the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).

Siddiqui’s name was excluded in the progress report of the corruption case submitted by the national anti-graft watchdog before the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday.

The case pertains to a purchase of land located near Chief Minister House in 2010. The land was allegedly purchased for the PPL against a price more than its real price, causing a loss of more than Rs1 billion to the national exchequer.

In the progress report, the NAB claimed that it did not find evidence against Siddiqui and, hence, his name was removed from the inquiry. Instead, the bureau has included him in the list of witnesses. NAB further informed the court that it had completed inquiries against the other suspects, including Khalid Rehman and Malik Usman .

The SHC also extended the interim bail granted to Rahman and the other suspects till November 22.
