LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday approved the plea bargain application of former president Canal Housing Society, Gujranwala, Yaqoob Lona, in a corruption case.
The accused has showed his willingness to return Rs 9 million ill-gotten money to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). His application had been referred to the accountability court for final approval under Section 25 of the National Accountability Ordinance. Accountability Court-I Judge Imtiaz Hussain conducted the reference proceedings and adjourned the further hearing till December 6.
The accused, along with two accomplices embezzled Rs 17.8 million in a shady deal to purchase land for the society.
