NAB arrests Muhammad Ismail Zafar Ex-Conservator GB

GILGIT: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Muhammad Ismail Zafar Ex-Conservator Gilgit Circle, Forest Department said the spokesperson on Saturday.

Muhammad Ismail Zafar has been arrested from Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, by NAB Authorities while fleeing to UAE.

He absconded during the investigation and was required by the NAB GB. It is alleged that Muhammad Ismail Zafar allowed illegal cutting in Makhley Forest (C-46) and also allowed transportation of timbers in violation of timber disposal policy 2013.

The sheer violation of timber disposal policy resulted loss of Rs. 73.93 million to National Ex-chequer.  The accused will soon be transported to Gilgit where he will be presented before the Accountability Court GB Gilgit for remand.
