NAB arrests proclaimed offender involved in usurping state land

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Thursday arrested a proclaimed offender Akbar Minhas from Block 7 Clifton and was placed under judicial custody by the Accountability Court.

The NAB officials sharing details of the arrest said Akbar Minhas s/o Shahadat Khan was wanted under Reference No 42/15 filed for forgery as had wrongfully acquired ownership of state land measuring 539 acres in Deh Kohistan 7/4 District Thatta. He was said to had not only made bogus entry of his name as private owner of state land but also sold the same to another party, thereby causing loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

According to NAB officials, there are 10 accused persons in the said Reference. Seven of them were said to be under judicial custody and one on bail.

Two mukhtiarkars, one Office Superintendent, one sub-registrar and one tapedar are in judicial custody, they said mentioning that government officials orchestrated bogus entries in “Record of Rights” in favour of three private persons for total land of 1,307 acres.
