LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a property dealer for causing a loss to national exchequer worth millions of rupees.
According to NAB spokesman, accused Sher Abbas with the connivance of Halqa Patwari, revenue officials and other property dealers sold hundreds of acre land in Mouza Bhul-e-Banewal on fake Fard and also without ownership of land on the basis of fake Fard at Mouza Durgahi Gill Qadeem.
The DG NAB Lahore initiated an Inquiry in August 2014 against 10 accused while in 2015, a corruption Reference was filed in the Accountability Court against them. The NAB had arrested five accused involved in the scam namely Syed Niaz Hussain Shah, Syed Ibrar Hussain Naqvi, Babar Shehzad, Safdar Abbas and Yar Muhammad Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that accused Yar Muhammad Khan opted for Plea Bargain and submitted liable amount Rs 2.3 million against him, accordingly. The Accountability Court declared remaining five accused as proclaimed offenders including Sher Abbas. The NAB Lahore will produce the accused before Accountability Court on Wednesday, for seeking of his physical remand for further investigation.
