ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday submitted a progress report on references against the Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, the Supreme Court judge monitoring the references.
The report was presented to the judge in his chamber at the Supreme Court. The report comprises details about the indictment of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. It has details of the process initiated for declaring Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz as proclaimed offenders.
The details regarding freezing of Dar’s assets by NAB are also a part of the report. Furthermore, decree of the accountability court and the testimonies recorded against Ishaq Dar till date have also been mentioned.
It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court in its July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case directed the NAB to file corruption references against the Sharif family and Ishaq and appointed Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan as the monitoring judge to oversee the proceeding of the references in the accountability courts.
