NAB chairman directs probe for alleged corruption in awarding contract of Karachi to Lahore Motorway

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal Saturday directed probe against NHA officials for their alleged corruption in awarding the contract of constructing Karachi to Lahore Motorway.

Taking notice of the abuse of authority, non transparency and awarding the contract of constructing Karachi-Lahore Motorway on higher rates, he directed NAB Director General Rawalpindi to thoroughly probe the allegations, a press release said.

NAB director general Rawalpindi has also been reminded bureau’s responsibility of protecting the squandering of public money and ensuring its use as prescribed in law.

NAB chairman directed to ensure that the public money should not be wasted or misused and people responsible for awarding the contract of Karachi-Lahore Motorway in violation of procedure and rules that too on higher rates should be pinpointed and punished.            The people involved in awarding Karachi-Lahore Motorway contract should be dragged in the dock. However, NAB chairman observed that the project must not be delayed due to investigation.
