NAB Court sends five officers on remand over Rs 4.5bn loss

KARACHI: The National Accountability Court has sent five officers, including directors and deputy directors of the Lines Area Re-Development Project on a 14-day remand for further investigations.

The officers of the Lines Area Redevelopment Project of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation included Director Waseem Iqbal, Deputy Director Fareed Naseem, Additional Director Atta Abbas, Additional Director Rashid Hussain and Deputy Director Shahid Umar.

The arrested officers are involved in land grabbing of 1,200 plots worth Rs 4.5 billion through China Cutting to bypass the auction which was otherwise mandatory as per law and had been allotted to builder and land mafia at throw away price for bribe and commission.

The above mentioned illegal land grabbing has resulted into generation of funds for terror financing and unregulated settlement for terrorist activities.

It is recalled here that the National Accountability Court (NAB) Sindh on Monday arrested five officers of the Lines Area Re-Development Project of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation for their involvement in land grabbing and China Cutting.
