NAB gets EMB approval to begin fresh probe against Nawaz, Shahbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Justice Javed Iqbal . Deputy Chairman, Prosecutor General Accountability, Director General Operations and other senior officers attended the meeting.

It is years long set policy of the bureau that the details of the EBM are shared with the people, having no intentions to hurt anyone. All the inquiries and investigations are initiated on the basis of alleged allegations which are not final.

The decision to go ahead with the cases is taken after listening the point of view of the accused persons.

The EBM authorized filing corruption reference against Arshad Waheed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms ERPL and others for their alleged abuse of authority.

The EBM okayed conducting investigations against former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and others.

The EBM authorised conducting inquiries against Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif former Punjab Chief Minister Sattar Aziz former Senator , Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, former DIG Traffic Police, Punjab and others, Mehr Hamid Rashid, member Punjab Assembly,Mehr Abdur Rauf , the owners/ developers and others of Heaven Villas Faisalabad, Attiqur Rehman, Sheikh Ejaz Ahmed, former MPA and others, defaulting PhD scholars of Punjab university.

The EBM approved closing investigations against Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, former Punjab Chief Minister, Javed Mehmood, former Secretary to CM Punjab, Ahmed Khan Cheema, former Director General , Lahore Development Authority and others due to absence of proof.

The EBM authorised closing inquiries against management, officers, officials and others of FIEDMC Environment Management Company, management/ officers, officials and others of Lahore Transport Company and Gujranwala Waste Management Company due to absence of evidence.

Justice Javed Iqbal Chairman NAB said the bureau is doing sincere efforts to make the country corruption free with the priority to take mega corruption cases to logical conclusion.

NAB has recovered record Rs 466 billion from corrupt elements directly or indirectly and deposited into the national exchequer.Different reputed national and international institutions had lauded the successes of NAB which is honour for the bureau.NAB has no affiliation with any party, individual or group but it has loyalty only with the state of Pakistan.

All resources are being utilised to recover the looted money from the corrupt. All legal options are being explored to nab the proclaimed offenders. After that law will take its course.

He directed all director generals to conclude complaint verifications, inquiries, investigations within the fixed time and investigation officers , prosecutors should pursue corruption cases in relevant accountability courts so that the corrupt could be punished.
