NAB initiates inquiry against food official

MULTAN: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan has authorised inquiry against a food inspector for accumulating assets beyond known means and received Rs 213 million corruption case against Punjab Constabulary and Accounts officials from Anti-Corruption Establishment for investigation.

Official sources said that Taveer Waraich, inspector Food Department Rahim Yar Khan, would face inquiry for illegaly accumulating assets worth Rs 150 million.

The complaint alleged that the food inspector accumulated assets including two flour mills, four vehicles a house worth Rs 60 million, apart from living beyond known sources of incomes.

Moreover, the case against officers and official of Punjab Constabulary Battalion-3 (PC-3) and District Accounts Office has been successfully transferred to NAB Multan on the directions of Lahore High Court Multan Bench.

The amount of corruption involved in case is approx Rs 213 million. The investigation was authorised in a meeting held Friday.
