LAHORE: The Punjab government has suspended Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Company CEO Ahad Khan Cheema for three months since his date of arrest by the NAB. The S&GAD issued a notification in this regard.

Cheema also served as the LDA DG when the Ashiana Housing scam surfaced. His wife, Saima Ahad, was Deputy Commissioner Okara and is currently posted at the health department, is also facing a NAB probe into assets beyond means. Meanwhile, demanding National Accountability Bureau to work on merit, Law Minister Punjab Rana Sana Ullah Khan on Friday said he has no objection to the activism of NAB but his reservations were about the arrest of LDA’s former DG Ahad Khan Cheema.

Talking to media outside Punjab Assembly, he said NAB must work while following the merit and his objection was only towards the arrest of Ahad Khan Cheema.

Criticising MNA from Khanewal Raza Hayat Hiraj who is now in PTI fold, Rana Sana Ullah Khan said his role had been that of an agent. He said Raza Hayat had the history of ditching his political parties as he deceived PPP, later PML-N and now he had joined PTI.
