NAB striving hard to recover looted money: Chairman Javed Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB ) Chairman Justice ® Javed Iqbal presided over executive board meeting today which was also attended by deputy chairman NAB, prosecutor-general accountability, DG operations Rawalpindi and other senior officials.

Addressing the meeting the chairman said that it is policy of NAB to apprise people about the decisions of executive board meeting while there is no purpose behind to hurt anyone. All the inquiries are being concluded after solid investigations. After getting fruitful feedback from all people the decision to conduct inquiry is being taken.

The executive board of NAB accord approval to file reference against Dr. Mohammad Amjad of Eden Housing Society and others due to corruption. All these accused persons fraudulently sale plots and caused a loss of Rs25 billion.

Another reference will be filed against M/s Kareem Karobar Company Karachi its owners and share holders. These persons are involved in sale of wheat on higher prices which caused a loss of Rs80 million to national kitty.

Executive board approved 7 inquiries which includes ex CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, MPA Mohsin Latif, Ali Hasan Zardari, MPA Sher Ali Gorchani, ex deputy speaker Punjab assembly and others, chief engineer Rashid Ahmed PWD Gilgit Baltistan, Mohammad Tahir Pervez MPA and others.

Inquiries were also approved against some officials of Auqaf department, LDA, revenue department, Civil Aviation Authority, FBR officials, Kashif Sehbai, Ahsan Sehbai, Shaheen Airlines International and Shaheen Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Services

NAB executive board also approved 15 inquiries which includes owners of M/s Nirala and MSR Fods Limited, directors and owners of Mian Rasheed Hussain Memorial Hospital, Pabbi Nowshera, officials of Frontier Constabulary, engineer Maqbool Ahmed ex-secretary department of mines and minerals Government of Balochsitan.

Executive board decided to send cases filed against officials of CDA, M/s PFOWA, Waheed Public Trust, Root Mellinium School to send CDA according to law. National Accountability Bureau executive board also decided to send case of KP government officials which includes Dr. Nasir Ali Khan project director Pak Austria FACHHOCHSCHULE Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Mung Hairpur for further progress to KP government.

Executive board decided to send case of MNA Samiul Hasan Gilani who is involved in tax evasion of Sami Town and 97 kanals of illegal land to FBR and Board of Revenue Punjab.

Addressing the meeting Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal said that NAB is strictly following its policy “accountability for all”.  He said that NAB is striving hard to recover looted money from corrupt persons and due to hectic efforts NAB successfully recovered Rs71 billion from last 22 months.

He said NAB believes in “corruption free Pakistan”. He said that business community is the backbone of Pakistan.

He said that NAB established a special cell in NAB headquarters to facilitate businessmen. President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Engineer Daroo Khan Achakzai also acknowledged efforts of NAB chairman and extended his full support to him.

He said that NAB decided to send cases of sales tax and income tax FBR. He said that 59 percent express confidence on the performance of NAB. All the international institutions hailed the performance of NAB which is honor for NAB and as well for Pakistan.
