NAB Sukkur arrests accused involved in Rs800m wheat scam

SUKKUR: On the directions of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice ® Javed Iqbal regional office NAB Sukkur is investigating wheat scam and vigorously pursuing the wheat mafia and and officials of Food Department, Government of Sindh.

In this context NAB Sukkur conducted raids and crackdown upon the mafia last night and apprehended accused persons who misappropriated government wheat stock worth Rs800 million.

Further raids are underway to apprehend the other members of mafia for misappropriating government wheat stock worth Rs50 crores. Further NAB, Sukkur has extended its investigation to the culprits in food department, Government of Sindh who facilitated the mafia in the scam.

NAB Sukkur has already recovered Rs10.5 billion from the mafia and remitted the same to Food Department, Government of Sindh.

In addition to these recoveries already made NAB Sukkur has so far submitted 8 references in NAB court against 39 accused including officers / officials of food department and private persons. NAB Sukkur is actively implementing the vision of worthy Chairman, NAB in letter and spirit.
