NAB summons ex-PM’s adviser on aviation

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau has summoned ex-advisor to PM on Aviation Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi in an inquiry against CEO PIA Musharraf Rasool Cyan and others regarding appointment and validity of drawing salary, perks and privileges by the head of national airline.

PIACL Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi Friday appeared before the NAB team and recorded his statement in the same case.

NAB team investigated Elahi him for around two hours and he provided record of the case to investigators.

According to summon of Mehtab Ahmed, “Whereas the competent Authority has taken the cognizance of an offence under the prevision of NAO, 1999.

Whereas, the inquiry regarding the appointment, salary and other benefits of Chief Executive Officer has revealed that you are in possession of information/evidence whatsoever, which relates to the commission of the said offence.

In view, thereof, you are hereby called upon to appear on 20-08-2018 at NAB Rawalpindi Islamabad before the investigation team to record your statement and record in relation to interview of applicants conduct on in Chairman PIACL office dated 16-06-2017 and PIACL Board Meeting dated 03-07-2017.”

It further said: “you are advised that failing to comply with the notice, may entail penal consequences as provided in S.2 of the schedule of NAO 1999”.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had directed the NAB to probe the PIA CEO Cyan’s appointment and salary during hearing of a suo motu notice.

Earlier, the NAB team had already summoned PIA CEO Cyan in the same case on August 9 and recoded his statement. He had failed to satisfy the NAB team during investigation.
