PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday again summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam in a case related to possessing assets beyond known sources of income.

On July 19, Muqam requested more time to appear before the accountability body. A spokesperson for NAB said the PML-N leader did not appear due to his election engagements and he shall appear after polls.

The PML-N leader is accused of possessing expensive property in the major urban centres of the country, for having several bank accounts and precious agricultural land. He has been asked to appear before NAB and explain the sources of his wealth, an official had said.

“Muqam’s wealth and luxury lifestyle don’t match his known income and that is why he has been summoned,” said the spokesman earlier.

NAB had also initiated a complaint verification process against another PML-N leader and deposed prime minister Nawaz’s son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar.

On July 17, former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif ignored NAB’s summon in a case against illegal appointments in the Punjab Power and Development Company (PPDC).
