NAB to file reference against fraudster involved in extorting Rs 8m

MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan has decided to file a reference against a fraudster involved in extorting Rs 8 million from people in guise of allotment of state land while fraudulently posing himself as a revenue official.

Director General NAB Multan Tariq Mehmood Nadeem approved to file the reference against the accused, Abdul Majeed alias Asim Patwari, in a NAB board meeting held here, says an official release issued by Additional Director (Staff) and NAB Multan spokesman Ahmad Mumtaz Bajwa on Friday.

The accused, a resident of Layyah, used to roam about in different areas while carrying revenue registers with him to win the confidence of people and during investigations he was found to have extorted hard earned money valuing around Rs 8 million from people.

It may be noted that NAB Multan has already filed a reference with the NAB court against another swindler, Muhammad Taj, and his accomplice on charge of extorting cash from people in the name of a housing society titled Habib Town in Yazman (Bahawalpur).
