NAB to probe corruption charges against former VC Sargodha univertsity

SARGODHA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in its executive board meeting presided over by NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, has ordered an inquiry into serious irregularities and financial corruption against former Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha, Chaudhry Akram and other staffers.

The accused persons inflicted huge losses to the national exchequer by financial misconduct and wrong use of power, executive board of the anti-graft watchdog observed, said a press release.

It is pertinent to mention that Higher Education Commission, on the direction of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Higher Education had already completed its audit of the academic, financial and administrative management during the former Vice Chancellor’s two-term tenure (2007-15).

The Inspection Team formed by the CM Punjab had also conducted a special audit of the 2010-14 tenure of Chaudhry Akram and established the charges of serious irregularities in academic and administrative matters as well as financial corruption and appointments.
