OTTAWA: All four main political parties will be represented at an all-candidates’ forum hosted by the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce next week.

“Educated and engaged voters are one of the keys to good government,” said Kim Smythe, president and CEO of the chamber, in a press release. “Because we have what looks like a tight race locally and nationally, it’s important to get as much information to voters as possible.”

The event takes place at Vancouver Island Conference Centre on Wednesday (Oct. 14), beginning at 6:30 p.m. The four federal parties will be represented by candidates Mark MacDonald (Conservative Party), Sheila Malcolmson (NDP), Paul Manly (Green Party) and Tim Tessier (Liberal Party).

Tables will be provided in the lobby for each candidate to present their campaign information and act as a focal point for discussions. This interaction will go on for about an hour before candidates take to the stage for the formal debate, scheduled to last another 90 minutes.
