CANADA: While Australians were looking to the skies for our own aurora event last night, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly captured photographs and video of a rare red aurora from a box seat aboard the International Space Station.
Kelly posted video and photos of the spectacular event on social media, tweeting: ‘Yesterday’s aurora was an impressive show from 250 miles up. Good morning from the International Space Station! # YearInSpace ,’
He followed up with: ‘#Aurora I don’t think I will ever see another quite like you again.’
The event was caused by a huge solar flare.
