CANADA: NASA astrophysicists have discovered the most luminous galaxy in the universe. Codenamed ‘WISE J224607.57-052635.0,’ the newly discovered galaxy is shining with light of more than 300 trillion suns.
As per the astrophysicists, the galaxy was discovered by using data from space telescope, Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer, of the United States space agency the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). According to the space agency, the new discovery by the astrophysicists will help it to learn several new things about the universe.
While talking about the new discovery, NASA said the new galaxy has provided a look of intense phase of evolution of galaxy. According to astrophysicists, the huge black holes at the center of the galaxy could be behind the strange phenomenon. The agency said that the galaxy is part of a new class of objects recently discovered by WISE.
As per the space agency, the massive black holes attract gas and matter into a disk around them. Those black holes heat the disk to an increasing temperature and blast out ultraviolet and X-ray light. The surrounding cocoons of dust block the light. When the dust heats up, it emits infra-red light.
