HONG KONG: NASA scientists are working on a powerful telescope called James Webb Space Telescope that will capture images of outer space and look far back into time. To be erected in Redondo Beach, California, the telescope will play a crucial role in future when researchers will explore past.
Currently, the space agency’s the Hubble space telescope has been looking at the universe from last more than two decades. NASA launched the telescope into low Earth orbit in 1990. The new telescope, James Webb Space Telescope, will be successor of Hubble which has some advanced features.
Currently, the telescope is under construction in Redondo Beach facility of Northrop Grumman. Charles Bolden, NASA administrator, said recently he got to tour the Redondo Beach plant. The Hubble telescope scope has provided several surprising information about the universe, but the new telescope will be about hundred times better than the Hubble telescope, according to Bolden.
During the tour, Bolden looked closely at a test version of the telescope’s huge five-layer sunshield. The telescope has been constructed so that it could look deep into the untouched past of the universe.
