NBP to increase ATMs from 376 to 1,000 by 2015

KARACHI: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) unveiled an aggressive plan to establish 1,000 ATMs by the end of 2015, targeting rural and remote areas in a bid to expend its outreach.

Currently, NBP has running 376 ATMs across the country and it will execute an aggressive strategy to ensure it spread to rural areas, declared NBP President Syed Iqbal Ashraf at a ceremony held to sign agreement for the roll out of 1,000 ATMs with Touchpoint.

He said that the NBP was working towards achieving cutting-edge technology. He said that the bank was behind its competitors and by deploying more ATMs by April 2015, it would strive towards better customer satisfaction.

The agreement was inked by NBP Senior Executive Vice President and group chief Zubair Ahmed, Touchpoint President Veqarul Islam and NBP President Syed Iqbal Ashraf.

Mr Ashraf said that with new and improved ATMs, NBP management aims to address the complaints of the aged customers, especially the pensioners. He introduced the P8 server, currently installed on majority NBP branches, that aimed at reducing the transaction time at ATMs.
