COLOMBO: The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will hold a session on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and Malaysia’ next week.
The seminar will be held on Thursday 24 November 2016 from 3.00 to 4.30 p.m. at the National Chamber Auditorium on D R Wijewardene Mawatha in Colombo. High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka Wan Zeidi Wan Adullah will be the Special Guest Speaker.
The Malaysian High Commissioner will speak on current business trend, trade potential, opportunities for export, import and investment, and other services available in Malaysia. At the session the participants will get an opportunity to meet the envoy to clarify aby issues related to doing business with Malaysia.
Trade between Sri Lanka and Malaysia has been increasing over the last few years and Malaysia has emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s major trading partners.
Sri Lanka exports to Malaysia include natural rubber and rubber based products (tires, gloves etc.), precious stones/semi-precious stones (e.g. Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds), tea, apparel, coconut.
Sri Lanka’s main imports from Malaysia are petroleum, palm oil, timber, timber products, rubber, rubber products, cocoa and products, vegetable fats, chemicals, urea, plastics articles, iron & steel articles, etc.
