NDP smuggled Hino bus taken into possession by Customs Preventive Sukkur

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Sukkur, has impounded a foreign origin non-duty-paid Hino bus, model 1995, during an action at a checkpost of Jacobabad-Sukkur. The value of the vehicle is Rs2.5million involving duties and taxes and impounding took place some 13 days ago of August 2017-18.

Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq had directed that effective measures be taken for checking the smuggling in the region. Sources told Customs Today that the customs authorities received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts.

He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Customs Officers. The team also included In-Charge Checkpost Aziz Ahmed Katpar, Inspector Nasrullah Gilal, Inspector Rahib Ali Abro, Hidayatullah Abro, Inspector Nazeer Ahmed, Sepoys Dhani Bux, Shoib Ahmed Bhutto, Ajaz Bhutto, Khalil Ahmed and Driver Manzoor Mashori.

The team intercepted a Hino bus with registration No: BSA-196, model 1995, near a Jacobabad-Sukkur checkpost. The officials asked the driver to produce documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle but he could not show any of them.

So the officials took the vehicle into possession following the customs bylaws. After making a seizure report, the team deposited the impounded Hino bus into the Sukkur State Warehouse.

Officials said vigilance has been enhanced against the smuggling of vehicles on roads. Talking with Customs Today, the Customs authorities said the Hyderabad Customs showed excellent performance regarding the anti-smuggling actions during said period.
