NDP smuggling dry milk powder confiscated by Sukkur ASO

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Sukkur, has seized non-duty-paid smuggling dry milk powder. The market value of the item is Rs812201 involving customs duties and taxes of Rs470461. The item was confiscated on the National Highway near toll plaza Rohri some 10 days ago.

Following the guidelines of MCC Hyderabad Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq, Additional Collector Amir Nawaz Hamid and his team, comprising Deputy Collector Zam Zam Aman, In-Charge checkpost, Inspectors and Sepoys, Driver and others, were informed of the smuggling of the single item outside Sukkur.

The customs team started the checking of the vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted a vehicle on National Highway near Ali Whan Rohri-Sukkur and recovered foreign origin non-duty-paid above said smuggling item.

Prior to the recovery, The raiding team asked the driver to produce the legal documents of the import of above said item, but he failed to do so.

A case was registered and an investigation also started. The ASO deposited the impounded item into Sukkur-Larkana division State Warehouse.

Talking with Customs Today, officials said all possible steps are being taken to arrest the smugglings in the region as vigilance has also been accelerated.
