Need stressed for focusing on Bulgaria to promote exports

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ambassador-designate to Bulgaria A.S.Babar Hashmi visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to discuss the possibilities of improving bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bulgaria and stressed that businessmen should focus on Bulgaria as it was a gateway to enter South-Eastern Europe for promoting Pakistani trade and exports.

He said that many Pakistani goods including leather products, surgical instruments, textiles, fish products and others could be of great interest for Bulgarian consumers and Pakistani businessmen should explore setting up a Display Centre in Bulgaria to penetrate in Bulgarian and South-East European market.

He said that embassies main job was to work for promoting business and economic interests of Pakistan in foreign countries and added that ICCI should take a trade delegation to Bulgaria while his embassy would extend all possible facilitation to make its visit successful.

Speaking at the occasion, ICCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the role of Pakistani foreign missions was very important in trade promotion and said that Pakistan Embassy in Bulgaria should help in identifying market potential for Pakistani products and share it with local chambers so that businessmen could make efforts to take benefit of potential business opportunities.

He said economy of Pakistan have huge potential for foreign investment and joint ventures in various sectors and ambassador-designate should play role in apprising the Bulgarian traders about such opportunities in Pakistan and facilities being extended by the government to the foreign investors.
