KAKADVITTA: Vegetables laden trucks entering into Nepal from India have been denied customs clearance by the Mechi Customs Office in Kakadvitta.
The office denied clearance after the Customs Department directed customs offices not to clear the entry of rotten vegetables and other inedible foodstuffs.
Mechi customs chief Bhim Prasad Adhikari informed the Indian side had allowed the entry of rotten and inedible vegetables. Seven trucks loaded with vegetables, fish and fishery items have been denied clearance.
Adhikari said the district chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry had urged the customs office to deny entry of trucks carrying goods which may rot before being delivered to the Nepali side.
