KAILALI: Customs office, which failed to collect as much revenue as expected in the first four months, has been able to collect double the estimated revenue in the fifth month.
The office collected Rs 300 million revenue during the last one month from mid-November to mid-December, which was double the estimated amount.

“We failed to collect as much as we had expected in the first four months of the fiscal. However, we have been able to collect more than double our estimated target in the fifth month this year,” said Kailali Customs Chief Parbati Raman Dahal.
As the condition at the Nepal-India border point is getting calmer, revenue collection has soared according to Dahal. Import of goods via the border point has started normalising after a long blockade, he said.
Due to disruption at the Raxaul border point, some Kathmandu-based entrepreneurs have started to import goods via Trinagar check point of late.
Around Rs 80 million revenue was collected from mid-July to mid-August, Rs 530 million from mid-August to mid-September whereas the revenue amount from mid-September to mid-October was recorded at Rs 117 million.
