Nepra asked to decrease power tariff by Rs1.35 per unit

ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) has recommended the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to further decrease power tariffs by of Rs1.35 per unit for the month of April 2015, under monthly fuel price adjustment.

According to data, 1472 GWh electricity was produced from hydel, 13.12 from coal, 371 from High Speed Diesel, 2880 from RFO (furnace oil) 1964 from gas 431.98 from nuclear, 38 from Iran, 71.76 from mixed, 52.54 from wind, while 45.21 GWh electricity from begasse.

Total energy produced during the month of April was 7341.51 GWh, costing Rs45,450 million. The per unit price has been calculated Rs. 6.1909. As compare to previous months more energy was produced from RFO. A sum of 39.23 percent was generated from Furnace oil, while only 5.06 percent was generated from high cost fuel (diesel).

The second largest contributor in energy mix after RFO was gas as 26.76 percent of total energy was generated from it. Hydel contributed merely 20 percent in energy mix. The agency has sought decrease against the reference price of ex-Wapda Discos for fiscal year 2014-15.
