NEPRA notifies Rs1.53 per unit increase in power tariff

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has notified Rs1.53 per unit increase in power tariff under the fuel adjustment mechanism for the month of December.

As per details, the increase in power tariff by the government will add an additional burden of Rs10 billion on electricity consumers.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs 1.80 per unit, on which NEPRA had held a public hearing on January 27 at the FCA, after which an increase of Rs 1.53 was decided upon.

The increase will only apply to bills of the month of February and on customers of all Discos, except Lifeline and K-Electric.
