MEXICO: Professor Jon French has been awarded further NERC funding to develop a Toolkit to improve the resilience of critical ports and their dependent national supply chains.
Funded through the NERC Environmental Risks to Infrastructure Innovation Programme, the £150k, 15 month research grant is in collaboration with Dr Taku Fujiyama and Kamal Achuthan in UCL Civil Environmental and Geomatic Engineering.
Working in collaboration with the Port of Immingham, the Department for Transport, Network Rail and other industry partners, Jon will be using Artificial Neural Networks to predict the likely effects of storm surges on port operation and potential disruption to critical supply chains.
