Netherlands, Algeria to boost cooperation in oil, gas and renewable energy sectors

ALGIERS: Algeria and the Netherlands expressed here on Thursday to boost cooperation in terms of oil, gas and renewable energy industries.

During a bilateral talk, the Algerian Energy Minister Youcef Yousfi and Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Liliane Ploumene reviewed current bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector and ways of promoting them, the official APS news agency reported.

The two officials vowed to intensify cooperation to grab potential opportunities in the fields of oil and gas industries, and renewable energies, APS added.

Youcef Yousfi streesed the priority given by Algeria to the local made equipments, and invited Dutch firms to “examine such partnership opportunities that serve both countries’ interest.”

For her part, Ploumene said Dutch companies are ready to share their expertise and know-how with the Algerian firms.

On his working visit to Algeria, Liliane Ploumene, accompanied by Dutch bussinessmen, participated Thursday in an Algerian-Dutch economic conference dedicated to outline and discuss investment opportunities in the energy sector.

The Netherlands is the fifth largest customer of Algeria in 2014 with 4.45 billion U.S. dollars, according to cutoms’ figures.
