KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has sought explanation from the Customs Department for not releasing networking cables even after securing differential amount.
A SHC division bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, ordered Customs to come up with an explanation on Aug 15. The bench was hearing a constitution petition filed by Mini Tech Corporation challenging an Order in Revision passed by the Director General, Valuation, Pakistan Customs maintaining a Valuation Ruling.
The appellant imported networking cable and fibre optic from China. The Customs Valuation enhanced the value of Networking cable from US $ 2 to 2.5 while of networking cable and fibre optic from $2 to 3.8 under Valuation Ruling 1187/2016. The appellant/importer challenged the same on ground that section 25 was not followed while determining and issuing VR in question. The departmental appellate authority maintained the VR in Order in Revision which was now assailed before the appellate tribunal.
The bench earlier ordered Pakistan Customs to release the consignment on payment of differential amount between the declared value and the Valuation Ruling.
