New currency notes for Eid can be booked via text message service: SBP

KARACHI: Citizens will be able to book new currency notes for Eid through a text message service, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Monday.

According to media, SBP stated that new currency notes will be released from May 20 to May 31 and the text message booking service will be operational from May 19.

To book currency notes, customers will have to send their CNIC number and bank branch identification number to 8877. Identification numbers for e-branches are available on the websites of private banks and SBP.

SBP has set a limit of one booking per CNIC number sent from a mobile phone number and multiple CNIC numbers will not be accepted from the same mobile phone number. New notes will be available from 1,700 branches of various banks across 142 cities.

The per capita quota of new notes is three bundles of Rs10, and one bundle each of Rs50 and Rs100 notes.
