New govt will make major changes in tax system: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The expected Prime Minister Imran Khan has given indication regarding major changes in tax authority (Federal Board of Revenue) and clearly said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government will show zero tolerance against corruption and corrupt elements.

Addressing the first parliamentary meeting, he also stressed the need of major reforms in tax system and said his government will seriously concentrate on broadening the tax base and every Pakistani will have to pay their due share in taxes, this is only way to move forward on the path of development and settle the current situation of the economy.

He announced “we will take austerity measures and I will start it to implement from myself. Although we have to face the serious challenge of economy but we will not let the waste of tax money. We will take care of tax money it belong to people and it is also responsibility of the government officials to not waist the public money”.

He said, “There is also need to bring reforms in economy. We will collect money through taxes and eradicate corruption from tax authority (FBR). We are making a plan for new tax system and will bring major changes in FBR.” He said honest and experienced officer would be appointed as new chairman FBR. PTI government will give autonomy to FBR and no political interference will be made, he concluded.
