WARSAW: Economist Rafał Antczak was on Wednesday appointed as the new head of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Antczak, a member of the board of Deloitte Consulting in Poland, replaces Małgorzata Zaleska, who was appointed just a year ago. The decision was made at a special general meeting of company shareholders. Antczak has over 20 years of experience in the field, having worked as chief economist at insurer PZU, as well as for the CASE think-tank.
The WSE company is more than 50 percent controlled by the state. Public broadcaster TVP reported late last year that the main task of Zaleska’s successor could be to encourage more Poles to invest on the stock market at a time when investment is increasingly seen as a driver of the economy.
