CANADA: No need to panic or adjust your monitors or smart-device screens. This is the actual image of Pluto’s surface which highlights the subtle difference in color on its surface.

Even though New Horizons is millions of miles out in space, way past Pluto as we speak, but it is still continuing to beam back priceless pieces of information to scientists at NASA.

Scientists studying Pluto used a special technique which is known as principal component analysis in order to identify and separate the tiny planet’s distinct regions which are very difficult to differentiate by default. It is designed to “highlight the many subtle color differences between Pluto’s distinct regions,” stated the scientists.

The breath-taking illustration was created to highlight the various subtle differences in texture and composition of the dwarf planet’s surface. Even though the image is false color in the ‘truest sense of the word’, it does help to illustrate how the main color of Pluto varies. Hence NASA has presented us with a Psychedelic shot of Pluto.

The spaceship, New Horizons, was outfitted with a Ralph/MVIC color camera which managed to take stunning images from 22,000 miles away. Even though it took New Horizons 9 long years to reach Pluto, it now seems that it was definitely worth the wait.

“There’s a whole lot going on here”, stated Will Grundy, a New Horizons co-investigator. The team who are running the New Horizons show had a lot of pre-conceived notion about the dwarf planet, but as raw data is being sent back for analysis, many of those false pre-conceived notions are now being cleared out. For example, previously scientists used to believe that the extended atmosphere of the dwarf planet was almost 7 to 8 times larger than Pluto itself. But now as it turns out, the extended atmosphere is only 2.5 times larger.
