New route for Pak-China Economic Corridor is not acceptable: KPK Olassi Tekreek

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek opposed the plan to divert Pak- China Economic Corridor, proposed by federal government and made a special committee to take-up the concerns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with senate chairman and Chinese government

“We are not relying on federal government double standard and we know that federal government has dropped the old plane to replace it with the new route which goes across Punjab while ignoring the backward province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan” Speakers said while addressing a daylong conference on the proposed diversion of the old routs. The conference was organized by Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek and activist of civil society.

Central General Secretary of Awami National Party Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek Leader Dr. Said Alam Mehsood, Awami Workers Party President Fanoos Gojar, National Party General Secretary Nazeef Lala, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf MPA Farzana Zain, Activist of Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek Temoor Kamal, Lawyer representative Barrister Hashim Raza, Chairman, Voice of Trader, Malak Fazl Ilahi and KPCCI President Fawad Ishaq also spoke on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Said Alam Mehsood said that federal government seeking to divert the route of Pak-China economic corridor on the pretext of poor law and order situation in the region but they will not accept this justification as no one can guarantee peace in any part of the country. They added that Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek may go to any extent for the cause of their rights as it is a serious issue of the future of their next generation.

Dr. Said Alam Mehsood said that they will convey their concerns to Chinese government on proposed diversion plan for the economic corridor and soon in this connection another meeting of Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek will be held in Islamabad.

Leader of Awami National Party Mian Iftikhar Hussain while addressing on the occasion said that federal government should not disappoint the people of this province and if they were deprived of their due rights, it may result another issue like Kala Bagh dam project.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain mentioned that federal government wanted to drop the proposed site and they were issuing a technical statement to deceive the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

President of Awami Workers Party Fanoos Gojar also lamented over the double standard of federal government saying that they were well aware of the development and preparation of P&D department. He added that a prequalification announcement have also been released for Expression of Interest in which government has mentioned that Lahore-Karachi Motorway is part of Pak china economic corridor. He suggested PTI government to take up the issue on Assembly floor as the people have trusted them and elected them to address their problems.

He stressed PTI chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to break their silence on the said matter of national interest as this province already have been deprived of their basic rights in head of net of hydal profit.

He said that security and military institution of the country should also consider the repercussion of this new rout as Indian government may use it as trade corridor and may cause security risk inside Pakistan.

The participants on this occasion agreed to constitute a committee comprising representatives of Awami National Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, National Party, Pakhtunkhwa Olassi Tehreek and Jamaat Islami to meet with speaker national Assembly, senate chairman and Chinese diplomats.
