KARACHI: With completion of first phase of renovation, the new service area of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) at the Customs House has started facilitating customers.

The new chest-high counters have started facilitating taxpayers. The 12 counters that allow complete visibility to both taxpayers and cashiers across a thick glass are constructed away from the previous main serving area of the bank which has been now in the process of renovation. Old counters, kiosks, furniture and equipment have been removed.

For the time being the work load has shifted to the new counters, but no complaints have been received so far. The renovation and construction work aimed at facilitating taxpayers in a more conducive environment. The plan involved not only the construction and the renovation work, but also the installation of automated Queue Management System and the CCTV cameras.

The work is expected to be completed by in the first week of February 2015.
