TOKYO: Square Enix Japan launched site that’s simply called “Square Enix New Project”. It shows a satellite image of a planet, with the text “S_AR” and “01 01” over the top. A Twitter feed is also displayed, showing all tweets. A share module automatically populates a Tweet or Facebook post with the text “NEXT 2015.04.13”, suggesting that more information will be revealed next Monday, April 13.

Many people using the #sqex_secret hashtag are suggesting that this might be a new Star Ocean game, given the “S_AR” text and the satellite image. Star Ocean is a Japanese role-playing game series that typically involves a science-fantasy setting and interplanetary travel. Despite originating in 1996, there have only been five Star Ocean games in total, most recently Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which came out on Xbox 360 in 2009 and PlayStation 3 in 2010.
