Multan: Senior customs officials discuss proposal to build dry port at Sadiqabad

MULTAN: The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan has proposed a new dry port in the region of Sadiqabad for the business activities.

Collector Dr Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has chaired a meeting along with Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa, Deputy Collector Headquarter Muteen Alam, Deputy Collector Dr Muhammad Ali Malik and Assistant Deputy Collector Faizan Badar in the office of Model Customs Collectorate Multan. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the business expansion through dry port of South Punjab.

According to minutes of meeting, the current performance of Multan Dry Port was also discussed with facts and Dr Muhammad Ali Malik gave presentation on the current scenario of the import and export at the Multan Dry Port.

The newly proposed Sadiqabad Region has been located near Super Highway of Sadiqabad and it will be beneficial for the importers and exporters of Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and its adjacent areas.

More dry port will be constructed for the industrialist, traders, importers and exporters of the South Punjab region to bridge the gap of prosperity in the region of South Punjab, he added.

Newly proposed dry port in the region of Sadiqabad region will flourish the business activities of the South Punjab region and promote importers and exporters to utilize the facility of Sadiqabad dry port region.

This newly proposed dry port at Super Highway will boost the business activities in the region as there is no dry port in the proposed region  for the business community.

Sadiqabad Dry Port is located in the interior South Punjab  and that area is surrounded with full of agricultural land, so it will also facilitate the agricultural section and also assist farmers  in the region.

The MMC Multan is of the view that newly proposed Sadiqabad Dry Port can be constructed with the support of Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The business  community of the region have shown great interest in the development of new dry port as it will help them in the export and import of vegetables, fruits and agricultural.

With the Multan Dry Port in the region of South Punjab another dry port in the Sadiqabad region flourish the business activity, which will also generate the handsome revenue for MMC Multan.

Moreover it will open new windows for the development and it will generate more finances in the national exchequer through its utilization.
