ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority has spent Rs.3.477 billion approximately on maintenance of roads in Khyber Pakhunkhwa under Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP).
An official of NHA informed APP Friday that in financial year 2013-14 Rs.1.378 billion were spent in KPK, while in current fiscal year 2014-15 Rs.2.099 billion were spent in KPK.
To a question, he said that total amount allocated under Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP) for past two years stood at Rs.37.076 billion.
Allocation for road maintenance in financial year 2013-14 was Rs.15.920 billion, while for fiscal year 2014-15 the amount allocated for AMP was Rs. 21.156 billion.
To a question he said that for the next years Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funds have been allocated for several highway projects in KPK province. He said that Rs 200 million have been allocated for 78.2 km section of Nowshehra-Chitral and construction of Takht Bai flyover. For 34 km Peshawar Northern Bypass Rs 1000.000 million have been earmarked, while for Lowari Tunnel and Access Roads (Dir) Rs 2000 million have been set aside. Similarly for rehabilitation of D.I Khan Mughal Kot 50 km Section N-50 Rs 2 billion has been allocated.
For western alignment and other China Pak Economic Corridor projects land acquisition and construction Rs 10 billion have been earmarked, while for construction of Burhan-Havelian Expressway Rs 2.3 billion.
