NHA to auction toll plazas at Khanewal-Multan section of M-4

ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) had planned to auction four toll plazas at Khanewal-Multan section of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway for about one year time ending on June 30 next year, an NHA official said Saturday.

He said minimum average net worth of the plazas had been fixed at Rs 100 million based on the income of past three fiscal years. The contract would start from May 1, 2017 and end of June 30, 2018.

The 54-kilometre Khanewal-Multan section was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in November 2015. The 58 km Faisalabad-Gojra section had also become operational while 62 km Gojra-Shorkot section and 64 km Shorkot-Khanewal section were under construction and would become operational by April next year.

The M-4 beginning at the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) to the Sargodha Road Interchange on the Northern outskirts of Faisalabad. It would continue on a Southwest course connecting the cities of Faisalabad, Gojra, Toba Tek Singh, Shorkot, Abdul Hakeem, Khanewal and Multan.

The completion of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M-4) would improve Pakistan‘s vital North-South road network, promote economic growth, create employment opportunities and ensure regional connectivity.
