LAGOS: The Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the MMIA Lagos, have seemingly settled their rift and both agencies have resolved to collaborate more effectively on airport security.
Before the agreement was reached, a high level meeting of the officials of both organizations was recently held in Abuja. The Customs delegation was led by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Inde Abdullahi, while FAAN was led by its Managing Director, Engr Saleh Dunoma.
The joint meeting reviewed the facts of the event and resolved to maintain periodic consultations to facilitate airport security.
A statement signed by Wale Adeniyi, the Public Relations Officer Nigeria Customs Service and Yakubu Dati, General Manager (Corporate Affairs) FAAN, said after their deliberations, the meeting arrived at the following decisions:
The two Chief Executives expressed regrets over the incidence of 3rd June 2015 where some FAAN staff were beaten up by Customs officials and agreed to work together to avoid future occurrence.
“That the Comptroller General of Customs will investigate the involvement of Customs officers in the fracas and will take appropriate punitive action if they are found guilty.”
