ABUJA: The Nigeria Customs Service has seized frozen poultry products worth over N12 million in its first week of operation “Hawk Descend” along the Nigeria – Benin border.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeniyi, said the seizures consisted of 1,803 cartons of the banned product.
“Most of the seizures were made when commercial vehicles conveying them were apprehended by customs officers. However, a significant number was made on the Iyafin Badagry waterways on the Lagoon that stretches through the Nigeria – Benin border,” the statement said.
The breakdown of the seizure showed that the Federal Operations Unit confiscated 975 cartons, the Seme Command seized 461 cartons, the Oyo/Osun Command and western marine command seized 247 cartons and 110 cartons respectively.
