TOKYO: A Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer, Nissan has confirmed that the company will unveil its new Lannia sedan at this month’s Shanghai Auto Show.

Revealed first as the Lannia concept in Beijing last year, the new sedan is described as the final evolution of the 2013 Friend-Me concept.

Both concepts were developed to appeal to the Chinese market, and its there that the Lannia will be offered exclusively.

Nissan says that, as with the earlier Friend-Me and Lannia concepts, the final Lannia sedan’s design and features are inspired by a new generation of successful young Chinese, “who are seen as energetic trendsetters with new values and aspirations”.

Little has been revealed about the Lannia’s technologies, although it may feature some of the information-sharing functions that debuted with the Friend-Me concept.

In that futuristic show car, Nissan demonstrated a set of screens that gives each occupant access to fuel, speed, navigation and engine information, along with access to a shared media system.

As for the Lannia’s styling, it is clear from today’s shadowy teaser image that we can expect more than a few of the new US-market Maxima sedan’s styling elements to appear in the new Chinese sedan.

In fact, the almost entirely faithful transition of Nissan’s earlier Sport Sedan concept into the new Maxima suggests that last year’s Lannia concept could be a very revealing look at the new production car.
