NEW DELHI: Recently named the official Safety Car at Virginia International Raceway for the Oak Tree Grand Prix this past weekend, the redesigned Maxima will also serve the same purpose at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, during the Lone Star Le Mans race on September 17-19.
The Japanese automaker is an official partner of IMSA, the sanctioning body for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and has fielded multiple cars and powerplants in recent race seasons.
Competing at the Lone Star Le Mans race will be a pair of Doran Racing Nissan 370Zs that also competed at the Oak Tree Grand Prix.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima is what the Japanese automaker likes to call its 4-Door Sports Car (4DSC). It is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. Nissan is currently considering a hotter variant NISMO variant for its sedan.
