ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal has reiterated that there is no change in the route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and it will pass through all provinces without any biasedness.

Talking to Voice of America (VoA), he termed negative discussion on design of the CPEC ‘hypothesis’ and said the government was committed to complete the project for national progress and prosperity at the earliest.

He said some elements wanted to make the CPEC controversial and convey the message that people of Pakistan were not interested in the project.

The Minister said the government had started work on the 650 kilometer Gwadar-Quetta road despite facing difficulties in executing the project.

Ahsan said those who resisted the project, were not wanting to see the Balochistan province flourishing and developing.

“Engineering teams of the Frontier Works Organization have been constructing the road despite security threats,” he added.

Meanwhile renowned journalist Sadr-ud-Din Elahi said the CPEC was a revolutionary program for strengthening the national economy.

“It seems that fate of Pakistan is going to change following the agreements signed with China,” he said while talking to VoA.

He said the project would be beneficial not only for Pakistan but the whole South Asian region.

Replying to a question, he said although some political parties have reservations over the CPEC route but they were not denying its benefits.
