No concessions for individuals’ not availing tax amnesty scheme: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Tuesday that there would be no concessions for individuals not availing the tax amnesty scheme, hinting at a crackdown against evaders after June 30.

The government’s economic team comprising advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, State Minister for Revenue Hammad Azhar and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi met with Prime Minister Imran Khan at Bani Gala.

According to sources, the meeting discussed the budget which will be presented on June 11. The FBR chairman also briefed the prime minister on the tax amnesty scheme. Hammad Azhar briefed the meeting on the extension in the date of tax returns and tax revenue.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan asked the economic team what was being done to bring big fish under the tax net, adding why was it that only the salaried class paid tax.

The prime minister said that all institutions were with the government to catch tax evaders.
